IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter Profile
IPPA was founded on the 23rd of December 1957 in Jakarta. The organisation was established focussing on the reproductive health rights of women and children, with a particular concern for reducing the rate of maternal morbidity. In 1967 IPPA became an official member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation in London and in 1969 IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter was set up.
In 1995, IPPA heightened its focus to brodaer issues of HIV, gender and sexuality identity issues, the role of religion in reproductive and sexual health, advocacy, research and more importantly, youth issues.
To realize the concept of three levels of advocacy (content of law, the structure of law and culture of law) IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter work with 75 schools and establish five youth forums, five teacher forums in five districts in Yogyakarta Province, working with women sex workers communities based organization, working with transgender community based organizations and working with 75 village communities in 75 villages in Yogyakarta province.
We also engage with 20 network in the regional (province) level, national and internationallevel with a variety of issues, ranging from issues of sexual and reproductive health and rights, sexual and gender based violence, the environment, disaster management, HIV & AIDS, Human Rights and in particular on the issue sexual and reproductive health of youth-friendly service.
To reach wider communities (underserve), we develop communication strategy both off line (face to face) and online media (to reach netizen). We develop 12 channels of media convergence and reach hundreds of thousands of netizens annually. We develop strategies for communication audit to determine the effectiveness of media campaigns to improve knowledge and encourage people to make changes in behavior.

IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter Program

1. Community Organizing Program
IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter has Organizing Program, to develop organization-based ‘society as actors to advocate change in the fulfillment of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights.
IPPA organize marginalized communities (Female sex workers, transgender, gay, youth living on the streets) and youth schools, rural communities (rural women, couples of childbearing age and the elderly).

2. IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter developed a Sexual and Reproductive Health Services
IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter developed a Sexual and Reproductive Health Services for children, adolescents, couples of childbearing age and elderly people with a variety of identity (rural women, LGBT, Youth Who Experience Unwanted Pregnancy, Female Sex Workers, Street Youth, disabled, and single parent women).
IPPA DIY has three clinics:
a. Adhi Warga Clinic
Service: family planing, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Unwanted Pregnancy Counseling, Temporary Shelter, Sexual and Gender base Counseling.
b. Griya Lentera Clinic
Services: Counseling and Inspection Sexual Transmitted Infection (STI), HIV Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT)
c. Lantera Sahaja Youth Clinic
Services: Counseling Sexual and gender-based violence for Youth, psychological counseling for Youth and Contraception for Youth.
Method of service:
a. In Clinic: Clinic Service IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter granted in accordance with the place and time of service.
b. Drop-In Clinic: IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter provide services to people who are not able to reach the puskesmas services and services in clinics IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter. Every year, the IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter of service earlier oral cancer examination Rahim, STI and VCT to the 1500 – 2000 rural women and marginalized communities.
3. Research, Training and Media Center
In developing a communication strategy, IPPA Yogyakarta’s Chapter perform a series of Activities to ensure the chosen strategy capable of reaching targets, measurable and capable of making changes. Series of activities are: Research on information needs (need assesment), the media used and supporting devices used by the target, the target train to access and use media campaigns and media production. In the end of the program, DIY IPPA will audit communications to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies do.
